Letters to the editor

Our area is unfortunately filled with right wing conservative sheep who’s favorite hobby is writing letters to the editor.  Today I saw this one.

Editor, Daily News:

Once again our favorite “boo bird” is back at it.

In his latest sortie into the land of make-believe, John Riccio takes a question asked by John McCain — “Are Americans better off now that they were eight years ago?” McCain’s answer was pretty much a yes.

Riccio then goes on to quote a bunch of statistics which he claims makes his point that Americans are not better off. Problem is, a lot of his statistics come from one or two years ago, not eight years ago.

His other problem is that he never offers solutions; he simply skews the issues of the country to suit his warped opinion of what is wrong and then harangues us with his venom.

Well, Mr. Riccio, you have your Democrat-controlled House and Senate. How are they doing? Is their national popularity doing well? How about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi? How is she doing?

There can be little doubt that we are mired in a national recession. We are particularly hard hit in Florida. We know this and each of us lives with it.

There is an old Greek saying that great men talk about issues, ideas and solutions. Small men talk about other people and each other.

Dear Brian and Dick,

I have to laugh when people say that the DEMOCRATIC congress has been able to make little headway into making things better over the last 16 months like that is is some sort of shocking revelation. I mean come on, engage the brain, W is still sitting in the White House and has worn out his VETO stamp since the shift in power in congress occurred. The democrats in congress are nearly powerless as long as the brainless puppet is still mumbling and bumbling in the oval office. Real change will not occur until both the legislative and executive branches of government are on the same page. 262 days to go….

Idiots.
