Historic cold
Yea, yea I know people up north are tired of hearing Florida residents complain about a little cold weather since northerners have to suffer through it 4 months a year. But hey, this is pretty damn serious. This cold snap is the longest and deepest for Florida since the 1920’s. Besides a bunch of whining it will have some serious consequences for the various agriculture that comes out of the state. Growers will lose millions of dollars in crops and subsequently there will be a snowball effect on the food chain. Get ready for high prices and limited availability on many Florida crops.
I took a few pictures of our property this morning. I tried my best to cover what I could but I am sure these few days of arctic air are going to have a pretty devastating effect on much of our landscaping. If you want to see all of the pictures, click here. The worst news is by Saturday it’s supposed to be even COLDER.
I dropped Ali off at the airport this morning. She is going up north to visit her nieces again. The temps up there are supposed to be arctic circle cold. Ali starts reaching for the sweatshirt in the low 70’s, she is going to be frozen solid.
She won’t be back till Monday so I get to rule to roost for a few days. My mom was nice enough to agree to come out for the rest of the week to tend to the dogs so I don’t have to drive home during the day to let them out.
I’m back to studying for my MSFT test. I had hoped to take the test before the New Year but all of the testing sites in my area had no availability. So now I am back to going over endless practice questions to try to jam my head full of enough answers to pass the test. I’m hoping I can take it within 2 weeks.
Despite these crazy cold temps I have still maintained my nearly 10 year old streak of never wearing a jacket to work since moving to Florida. I just can’t break the streak, no matter how many goosebumps I may have.
Sir Randall
Yet you warmed up the car the other day….hahaha. I absolutely REFUSE to turn on any kind of heat in Florida.
