Delivered, destiny awaits

Ali called me late in the day yesterday telling me her bike was ready to be picked up.  She was at the bike shop earlier getting her new bike fitted.  I swung by there after work to pick it up.  I had a bit of an awkward moment as I was loading the bike up in the truck.

Some guy had pulled up in the spot next to me and was unloading his bike.  He saw the pink seat that was on Ali’s bike and made a joke about it.  I gave a fake laugh and said something like “pink isn’t my thing”.  I think the guy sensed I didn’t think his comment was very funny.  He then asks me if I need any extra CO2 cartridges, for some reason he had spares. (things used to inflate tires in a repair situation)  I INSTANTLY replied back “No thanks, I’m good”

It was awkward because I just blurted out NO almost like he was a guy at the fair handing out religious information or a woman in the Bahamas asking to braid my hair.  In reality I certainly could have used the cartridges, you never can have too many.

I am pretty sure the guy walked into the store with his bike thinking “What a weirdo…”

Ali took her bike out for a brief spin last night.  She returned very happy, saying the bike felt great which I was glad to hear.  She said she is actually excited to get out on the bike more.

I bought a bolt on hitch and bike rack for the Camry this week.  After having the strap on our old carrier snap I no longer trust that type of carrier to carry bikes, especially expensive, carbon fiber varieties.  The hitch is a no drill, bolt on, 1.25″ receiver model.  It should work out great.

I am leaving work a little early today to start the drive across Alligator Alley to Jeremy’s place.  I am staying there tonight so I am fresh for our volleyball tournament tomorrow.  Randall has been on an epic trash talking rampage.  Obviously the sting of being schooled last summer is still there, even after all this time.  He could lose every game in the tournament and still be pleased if he manages to beat Jeremy and I. My primary goal is to emerge from the tournament uninjured.

I have already pledged this is going to be an “old school” type of vball experience for me.  I plan on pulling out a number of the tips from my classic volleyball pointer list .  Hopefully Randall has done his homework.  I am fearful of what would happen if Randall would actually lose to us again.  He might lose another 50 lbs and get breast implants by this time next year.

Should be fun regardless.
