So long Sam’s, Bye Babin
I have disliked what Sam Walton and his Wal-mart stores have represented for a very long time, selling tons of mostly cheap made in China shit, steam rolling any smaller businesses that get in the way and paying their employees shitty wages with either no or poor benefits. Despite my dislike of their business practices I have hypocritically continued to frequent his stores, including Sam’s Club for many, many years.
Well yesterday I made my first step towards walking the talk when it comes to Wal-mart as I joined Costco. Costco is clearly the better choice if you actually care about how people are treated. Sam’s is physically closer to my house which is probably why I never bothered to get off my ass and hook up with Costco.
Well yesterday Jeremy and I were chatting as we normally do and he suggested I ditch Sam’s and join Costco, a suggestion he has made repeatedly in the past. Well for whatever reason, yesterday was finally the day I made the switch, I signed up online and will be receiving my card in the mail shortly.
I was going to simultaneously stop my Sam’s Card from renewing but was disappointed to see it auto-renewed in October, great timing. I found it annoying that I was unable to turn off auto renewal via the Sam’s Club website. It required a phone call and navigating a cumbersome phone menu until I could talk to someone that supposedly flipped the switch off.
I really don’t know why I kept going to Sam’s for so long, I never left there feeling anything but worse about the condition of the human race. I am hoping to steer clear of Wal-mart as much as possible as well.
I was very surprised the Eagles cut Jason Babin yesterday, the same Jason Babin that was in the Pro Bowl last year after registering 18.5 sacks in 2011. His production this year has been pale in comparison, accumulating only 5.5 sacks thus far, which actually is the most on the team believe it or not.
I suspect there was some underlying attitude issues connected to his release. Also it appears that besides getting the occasional sack, Babin doesn’t really make many plays, I guess he is kind of a one trick pony. But hell if you are going to cut Babin, what about Trent Cole and his tiny 1.5 sacks? He has somehow turned into a ghost.
Do I really care that Babin was cut? Nope. It is only the first of many beheadings that will be forthcoming.
