Xmas lights arch enemy

Every year since we moved into our house I have been fighting a losing battle against my exterior xmas lights enemy, water.   It seems despite my best efforts, I am unable to keep precipitation from somehow shorting out my exterior lighting display.  Over the weekend I walked around with tinfoil and covered up the plug connections to prevent water from getting in.  I also made sure that any plugs I couldn’t reach were pointing in a direction so water would drip down away from opening on the plug instead of into it.

So far my efforts have been fruitless.  Each and every morning I can tell by the dead water fountain in the pond that the exterior GFCI circuit breaker has been tripped. So each night after work I reset the breaker and then rest the timer that controls the lights.  Normally we don’t get much rain this time of year so it shouldn’t be a big deal.  However since installing the sprinkler system, my man made rain has the same destructive affect on the lights.  I suppose I’ll have to make a second run through to see if I missed anything. It’s like running up a down escalator.

Watched Heroes and Terminator last night.  Terminator is increasing it’s lead over Heroes in my favorite tv show contest.  It’s not even that close anymore.
