Another, want to really worry?

I just read last night that a high school buddy of mine died on Tuesday.  Ironically I only had reconnected with him in the past year via Facebook.  I hadn’t seen him since I left the halls of Governor Mifflin.  I found that he had been battling with melanoma skin cancer for the past few years, a very deadly variety.  At that time he had told me he was doing pretty well.  Unfortunately things took a turn for the worse.

There have been a number of people I graduated with that are no longer with us.  It makes you feel your own mortality for sure.  When you are young, death is the last thing on your mind, something you know exists but is so far off in the distance you can’t possibly be concerned about it.  It’s not so far away now.  It’s outline, while still fuzzy is clearly visible on the horizon.  Rest in peace Dave.

My buddy at work sent me an article covering an interview about the Gulf oil spill.  It depicts an EXTREMELY dire picture for what eventually awaits all of us.  If the picture he paints is true we all are in for a whole lot of hurt.

Although BP is the main focal point of this mess it is also the result of what is described in the article as “Peak Oil” and an “infinite growth economic paradigm”.  Basically the plan that humanity has laid out is to infinitely reproduce, infinitely consume, and ultimately destroy ourselves in the process.  The ground work has been laid, we are on the tracks with no way to get off until it dead ends into an abyss of chaos.  I can only hope I check out before it goes down.  Check out the quote from the article below.  If you want to read the whole thing go here.

And as I said in the movie Collapse, I said President Obama is a prisoner of a system that only gives him a very narrow range of options because the system is controlled by an infinite growth economic paradigm. The corporations own Congress and what we’re seeing especially in the Gulf is this real disconnect between BP, which is a corporation, and the government which can’t deal legally with a corporation.
