Give and receive, 5 year old bed time

One of my buddies from the gym said something to me a long time ago about giving me his old road bike if he ever got another one.  I hadn’t seen him in quite awhile since he is still trapped at Planet Fitness and I had moved on to greener pastures at Retro Fitness.

Well I got an email from him right after we left for the trip out west that he got another bike and he wanted to give me his old one.  We didn’t get a chance to meet up until yesterday.  I asked him several times how much money he wanted for it and he repeatedly said nothing.  He used his old bike HARD, he rides almost everyday.

The bike was in three pieces in the trunk of his car, both wheels were off.  The bike was very dirty but looked intact otherwise.  I thanked him again for his generosity.  He said it was no big deal, it was just taking up space in his garage.

It’s a Trek bike, a huge step up from my low end Ebay road bike.  It has a lightweight aluminum frame, carbon fiber forks, spd pedals and a Catseye computer.  It has the shifter integrated into the brake pedals.

I figure I’ll take it to the bike shop to get it cleaned and tuned.   I should get back a real nice road bike.  The frame looks slightly lower than mine.  I am wondering if Ali could ride it as well if I dropped the seat all the way down.

It was very cool to have such generosity bestowed upon me.  Over the years I have given away a lot of stuff as well, it’s nice to have that come back around full circle.

When I got home last night I felt incredibly tired.  I almost felt like I could go immediately to bed.  It’s a bizarre roller coaster I have been on.  Last week I felt pretty wrecked but then felt better over the weekend.  Now I am back on a down slope.

I was too tired and annoyed to even think about playing WoW.  Instead I started watching some of the original V tv series.  I originally had this in my DVD queue but sent them back without watching it.  F’in with all those dvd’s just seemed like too much hassle.  Well since then the series became available via instant streaming so I added it to my instant queue.  I got 2.5 episodes in until I passed out at 9:15, yes 9:15 pm.  I bet a bunch of 2nd graders were still awake while I was snoring away, pathetic.
