D. Wayne follow up
I forgot to mention that good old D. Wayne called back to follow up on his sales call last week. You may recall D was the guy that came off like a slick car salesman.
The purpose of his call was to let me know that there was yet another “special” and if we agreed to have a new system put in this week he would be willing to further discount the price.
I informed D. Wayne that I went with another company. He asked me for reasons. I was honest and told him that to me it seemed like he was more interested in just throwing some new equipment in place and not addressing the other issues with our AC system. I also mentioned the negative information I heard both via mouth and on the internet about Amana AC equipment.
D of course was defensive and said that he could find stuff on the internet saying that Amana is better than Trane. Well a pissing match was pointless. I told D I appreciated his effort and was sure he would be selling lots of stuff, just not to me.
When I hung up I said “Bye DWAYNE” , not using his preferred, two syllable pronunciation.
Yep I could have paid a lot less money if I went with his company but “you get what you pay for” is a rule I felt was important to follow in something as major as AC replacement.
