Reinstated, slim fair, more maniacs
So yesterday I finally got a response from YouTube regarding the sudden suspension of my EUC Army channel at the end of February. The email basically said, “Woops, our bad” It turns out the channel was not violating any YT terms of service.
I’m happy that the channel was reinstated but irritated it was suspended in the first place and frustrated that it took this long for YouTube to turn the lights back on. Now I have to upload the backlog of EUC videos that went down in the last month.
Cindy and I got out to the fair last night. I totally forgot it was canned food night meaning I could have just brought some canned goods instead of handing over $10 to get in. It didn’t take long to realize they switched things up pretty drastically at the fair this year. Instead of offering more, there was less, noticeably less.
The conventional, carnie infested are where the rides and games of “skill” seemed the same but other parts of the fair seemed to be trimmed back. The area designated to the farm animals took the most noticeable hit. I would estimate they had about half the space allocated to the animals as in years prior, an odd choice. We checked out the chickens, cows, pigs and goats before grabbing food. For dinner we had arepas with a side order of maduros, our de facto fair meal. We patronized the same stand run by the same old hispanic lady as we have the past four years.
We checked out portions of the motorcycle jumping, bears, white tigers, and the living mermaid shows. We walked through carnie alley. We didn’t get accosted as much as usual by the carnival employees, probably because of my current skinhead look.
We hit the petting zoo tent on our way out which is always a favorite. Cindy had a connection to a black yak that just loved getting attention. She probably spent a good 10 minutes rubbing him down. It was cute.
On the way out we got snagged by a personable Scottish guy that was selling these cool reusable heating packets. Basically you click a button that sets off a chemical reaction that instantly heats up the pack which stays warm for about 90 minutes. I have heard of single use heating packs like this. What makes this different is you can actually reuse the packs infinitely.
After use you drop the pack in boiling water for 2-3 minutes, let it cool and it is ready to be reused again. Cindy is constantly using a heating pad so this seemed like something that would be very useful for her. After a county fair negotiation we wound up getting a good deal on a set of them.
Another day, another terrorist event, this time in the UK. We were due to have another fear inciting, Muslim hating incident to keep the fires burning. If you think this problem is something that is ever going to be “defeated”, I have some pristine swampland I’d like to sell you.
