More gym stuff, directv dicks
I found out today that some guy I knew from the gym whom was in awesome shape died a couple months ago. He was younger than me, around 30. He dropped over dead from some sort of heart thing. You just never know. Although when I go, I’d rather just drop dead too.
I saw yet another first at the gym. There was an old man there wearing khaki’s, a collared short sleeve shirt, docksiders and dark socks. He was back in the ab area where I do my 300’s. He was laying flat on his back, on a mat, with a smell medicine ball under his head as a pillow, reading the paper. What in the f? If I was in the middle of doing a 300 and this old dude came in to “relax” there would be no way I could tolerate it. I would make so much damn noise he would have to take his lazy ass somewhere else. Get a clue…..
So Ali calls me up and tells me there are some PPV charges on the Directv bill, including one for ADULT shit. Well I haven’t ordered any PPV on Directv in ages. I had her fax me the bill and I was right on the phone eager to straighten it out. I already suspected it was related to the swap out I did with a used receiver a couple weeks back. I was right. Evidently the person whom last had the receiver ordered these PPV’s with the phone line disconnected shortly before deactivating the card. So once the card was connected back to a phone line at my house, the charges were slapped on MY bill. They were dated in 2006! Well there was no way I was paying for those. At first the rep was giving me a hard time, saying the CSR should have never activated the used card that came with the receiver and technically I was responsible for them. I told her basically NO. She talked to her boss and came back and said they would waive the charges. She said I was going to be transferred to the card distribution department. That department would credit my account and send me out a new card, ok fine, I win, not….
The battle was not yet over. So I get to talk to another woman. She reads the notes on the situation but is confused. I explain it once again. She again says the CSR shouldn’t have activated the card. Oh well not my problem. Then she says she isn’t sure why I need a new card sent out since the one I have is working. I said I didn’t care if I had a new card, I just want those bogus charges removed. Ok now she has to talk to her manager about something. I was being pretty patient up to this point. However when she came back on a couple minutes later and said “Ok we are going to send you out a new card, that will be $20 and it has to be paid up front, which credit card would you like to use?” the flip switched. Now I was in ugly mode. I told her I wasn’t paying 20 dollars for a new card, especially since she herself just had told me that my current card was fine. She started trying to spit out more BS” Sir, our policy…” I cut her off and said “Can I please speak to your manager?” Startled, she stopped and said “Yes, yes just a minute” So I get the manager on the phone he reviews the info and again tells me how I shouldn’t have been able to activate the card that came with the receiver. I told him that when the card was activated I explained the entire situation beforehand, that it was a used receiver and the card that came with it. Nothing was said of any issues with doing that or the need to have a new card sent to me for $20. I also went back in time and gave the guy a brief history of the problems I was having with my original receiver that lead me up to buying a used one since I thought it was BS to be charged 80 bucks to have someone come out and look at it. The guy tried to toe the line for awhile but eventually realized I wasn’t going to take No for an answer. He agreed to send me the card for free. I told him that it seems that every time I call Directv they want to nickel and dime me to death. I also pulled out my famous “How would you feel in my situation?” line. That is the hammer when you are dealing with issues like this. It’s a question that you expect no answer to but it does a great job of getting the person on the other side to pause and think about how stupid the situation is they are trying to enforce upon you. Anyway, new card will be here next week, the charges will be credited on the next bill and all is well. I win. If I had any other option when it came to watching the Eagles I would have pulled the plug on Directv awhile ago.
If you like cats or hate them like me, you will find this site very funny, guaranteed.
