Pooch part 2, worldwide

When I got home last night there was only an empty dog bowl left and no sign of the pooch I met in the morning. However when Ali got home she said she saw the dog just down at the end of the street. Damn it. So we got the dogs attention and it came happily over to us. Ali said she could see the dogs ribs so she suspected he may have been either mistreated or on his own for awhile. He was such a good dog. So we had a brief discussion about the merits of leaving him run free versus getting him picked up by domestic animal services so either his owner can claim him or the dog can get adopted back out. We decided to call DAS.

I tried to get him into Nicki’s dog run area but he wasn’t going for it. However we were able to coax him onto the lanai. Ali brought out more food and water for him and I sat out there with him. Nicki was going crazy at the sliding door, jumping up and carrying on. So I cracked the door a bit so they could at least sniff each other. Nicki still seemed very interested in interacting with our dog guest so we let her out. Immediately the big dog was all about sniffing Nicki’s rear. He chased her around and around, while Nicki kept her tail firmly wedged between her legs. I made sure no attempts at mounting occurred. Eventually Nicki started to get aggressive and they started playing with each other with some wrestling and Nicki running around while the big guy chased her. It was really funny to watch them. Eventually Nicki got tired and we let her back in while we kept big dog out on the lanai. I sat out there with him, waiting for animal control to show up. While we were waiting he ate another bowl of food and then I gave him a bunch of dog treats that Nicki doesn’t like, which he gobbled right up. I sat on the lounge with him next to me while I petted him. He licked my leg and seemed happy as pie to be hanging out with us. It made me sad to think that someone probably kept him tied up outside and hardly paid him attention.

I sat there petting him for a good half hour and then the lady showed up. She was very nice and gave him a treat. She put a leash around him. I walked up front with them to the van, feeling like shit as my new buddy was getting hauled off. The lady hopped into the back of the van and tried to coax him in, he put his big front legs up but wouldn’t hop up. The woman tried to pull him up but was having trouble so I helped lift him up from behind. She got him into a cage that was cramped for such a big dog. She gave him another treat but he dropped it. He looked scared and confused. I couldn’t help feel like I let him down although I know it was the right thing to do. Ali asked me how I would have felt if we would have seen him lying dead on the road. Maybe the dog is micro-chipped and will be reunited with his owner in short notice (but I doubt it) Ali didn’t even mention the idea of us keeping him this time although I’m sure she would have attempted it if I gave the ok. He was about twice as tall as Nicki and knowing how much of a handful maintaining one dog is, adding another much larger one would have been a big mess. Still, I was pretty upset the rest of the night and still am today about seeing him taken away. The woman said he probably wasn’t much more than a year old. I am considering trying to establish an email distribution list for people that live in our immediate area to send out APB’s when this sort of stuff happens so possibly the owner can be contacted. This is the third time we have had loose dogs show up on our front porch.

My ebay business just went global. My hacked tivo is getting shipped half way around the world to Australia. To ship it costs a whopping 82 bucks but the buyer was happy to pay it. They don’t have Tivo in Canada or in Australia so they use the older units and hack them in a similar fashion to what I did. Pretty wild thinking about how my Tivo will be down under next week.

In related news, I got my first negative feedback ever on ebay from the jerk that screwed me on the spot cleaner vacuum transaction. It went down like this. The guy listed the item as new, it was a return and had been used. I complained to the guy that I paid new price (more actually) and got used. He agreed to refund my money. 3 weeks went by and no refund was issued. I contacted him again to find out why it was taking so long to which he replied that returns are only processed every 2 weeks. Then instead of refunding money, he sent back the SAME used unit. I went off on him and gave him 48 hours to refund the money like he promised or I was filing a claim with paypal. The deadline passed and I started the process. A few days after that I posted negative feedback for the transaction since it was obvious he wasn’t going to make good. The jerk was holding my feedback hostage and as soon as I posted negative feedback for him he retaliated by posting nonsensical negative feedback for me. This really pissed me off since I had a spotless record. To have it blemished by an asshole seller really angered me. So we went back and forth back and forth, with me calling him a liar since he agreed to refund the cash and then didn’t and chastising his business practices. Well paypal took 5 weeks to come to their resolution. They never asked for the emails the guy sent me promising a refund. In fact all they got from me was my original complaint and asked for no further followup yet for some reason they sat on it for over a month.

Then the other day I get an email from Paypal saying the case was resolved, and the merchandise was not significantly different as described so they denied my claim. About half way thru the deliberation process, the asshole seller said that a paypal reversal was in the works and since that was the case, he encouraged me to withdraw my negative feedback. So he was lying to me a second time. I fired off emails to paypal, chastising them for doing such a shitty investigation and again to the seller reinforcing his status as a lying piece of shit. I must have gotten under his skin because he returned a lengthy email which I succinctly replied with basically “You are a liar and a lowlife”. So now my 262 positive feedback points are blemished with one negative. Avoid laliquidators on ebay like the plague. He is a grade A, prime cut, asshole.
