Nailed it, dead, dumb

I finished season 1 of Dexter on Netflix last night.  I was pumped that I sniffed out that the Ice Truck Killer was actually Dexter’s biological brother a few episodes back.  Unfortunately only 1 more season is available for streaming on Netflix since Showtime/CBS are being pricks. The more I watch the show the more I can identify with Dexter.  No I am not a closeted serial killer but I do spend the majority of my life inside my own head.

I had an unpleasant surprise this morning, the battery in my Tacoma was dead.  Batteries die often in the Florida climate but I had just replaced the battery around a year ago.  At least I should get some credit towards a new one.  As a result I am rolling in the party van today, watch out ladies.

There is a lot of ignorant politics going on right now.  Close to home, the Florida legislature is close to passing amendments that will affect the state pension system.  The most glaring proposed change is a scaled contribution for state workers to the pension system.  This change could equate from anywhere to a 2-5% pay decrease for employees that in some cases have already gone with out a raise for 5 years.

The whole cry to attack the pension system was based on the idea that the pension system is financial black hole.  Forget the fact that this is actually untrue as the Florida pension system is either the 3rd or 4th best funded pension in the country.  The more outrageous thing is the extra money they want to skim from state employees is not targetted to make the pension more robust.  It’s to do things like give tax breaks to Rick Scott’s inner circle of corporate campaign contributors. I can’t tell you how aggravated I am about the insanity of it all.

The other three ring circus is the looming federal government shutdown.  John Boner is trying to hold the president hostage, threatening to not pass a budget if Obama doesn’t agree to a multitude of cuts that are being attached to the budget at the last second.  Of course almost all of these cuts target the middle class and poor and leave the rich unscathed.  Hey if you don’t agree to this shit the government will technically (not literally) be shut down, look how bad that will make you look since you are the man in charge.

Since the last election cycle Obama has made a very deliberate effort to appease the republicans, compromising all over the place in the name of bipartisan cooperation since the election results would indicate that was what the public more or less wanted. In my opinion he has actually gone too far with his cooperation and is on the verge of being perceived as the Republicans bitch. I’d like to see him say the buck stops here, f u Boner.

Enough with kissing the Republicans ass, allowing them to cut out programs that help the average man while injecting provisions about abortion and gay marriage into BUDGET issues.  It is just ridiculous.
