Well off, 5k, gas
Sometimes I take for granted how good I have it working for local government. We get all sorts of perks like having tons of holidays off, getting discounts from local businesses and all sorts of benefits regarding our personal health. They sponsor a health fair every year where we get all sort of free health screening. The other week I had a thick book sent to my house from the county that was about all sort of common ailments and treatments, sort of my own personal MD. Yesterday I had to laugh when I received a postcard in the mail from the county outlining things I should do to have a safe Halloween. It’s crazy but I am lucky to have an employer that maybe cares too much. 🙂
Yesterday was a double gym day. At lunch I did a biceps routine and then I went back after work with Ali and ran a little more than 5k on the treadmill. It wasn’t bad and I am pretty sure I could have done 4 miles without much trouble. Running indoors, on a treadmill, in AC with a ceiling fan above you does wonders to help your endurance.
Many gas stations are dry already. We were lucky to find one on the way home last night that wasn’t backed up into the roadway. I was able to fill my truck and four 5 gallon gas cans. I should have enough gas on hand to run the generator for a good 3 days or so. The latest projections have slowed Wilma’s approach again yet the most likely path still has it plowing through SW Florida. If there is good news to be had, it seems like the longer it takes to get here, the more likely it is to be weakened by other weather factors. These next few days could be memory makers.
