Incremental
All week I have been dealing with a very sore and tender lower back. When combined with the normal issues I have with my right knee/hip it has been a very challenging week physically. I have been trying to be mindful of what I am doing. I have still been going to the gym but I have not played pickleball this week which can put your lower back in all sorts of compromising positions. Each day I make small incremental improvements but I am still far from good.
I have been trying to get healthy enough to play in a pickleball tournament on Saturday with Brian, my buddy that I played my first ever tournament with. This tournament is unique in two ways, it doesn’t start until 5:30PM and it is being held at some courts in Bonita Springs that I never played at before. My plan is to pop plenty of Advil and cross my fingers that my back holds up.

Incremental is the word I would also use to describe the slow process of getting past the loss of Elsa. One of the things I did this week was 3D print a number of picture frames which I used to put various endearing pictures of her around the house. It’s a Catch 22 sort of thing.
As much as I love seeing my sweet girl’s face in these pictures it also triggers the tragic sense of loss that she is no longer here. I know the only medicine for this is the passing of time along with trying to focus on all the good she brought into our lives instead of the dark emotions surrounded with losing her. It’s a daily battle.
The weather this weekend is supposed to be nice with lower temps and humidity than we have had in probably 5 months. I hope to take advantage of it.
