The Ultimate PR Stunt?

Tesla has been talking about releasing a new Roadster for over a half decade. There are people that put down $50,000 deposits in anticipation of the car being released. All that time the main response from Tesla/Elon was, it’s coming….

Awhile back there were rumors about the Roadster being a flying car which I of course dismissed as ridiculous. Well, last night the new Roadster reveal live stream happened and to my surprise, the car actually, flew…

This to me was the ultimate PR stunt. They started the event with the car driving up a curved ramp with the top of the ramp being inverted. The Roadster slowly climbed the ramp until it was fully inverted. This is accomplished with a crazy strong ducted fan underneath whose purpose is to create incredible down force allowing the car to corner at speeds never heard of before.

The car backed off the ramp and then climbed it again, this time not stopping. It launched off the ramp upside down and was able to flip over and land cleanly using rocket thrusters, borrowed from SpaceX tech. It was crazy looking. They weren’t done. Later the car approached Tesla’s existing line up of vehicles, a Model 3, Model Y, Cybertruck, Semi, and a Model S and executed the flying car equivalent of a kick flip over them. It was nuts. Elon claimed production of this vehicle will begin in 2028. Sure Elon, sure…

There are two versions of the car, the Thrust version which will be street legal and the Rocket version, that flies. The Rocket version is by invite only and obviously is not approved for conventional road use. It only costs you 50K to reserve one now, lol. I saw Tesla stock is up in early trading. I guess the Roadster event is working as planned. Regardless it was a pretty amazing testament to the engineering that Tesla is capable of.

I took Monday off to give me some extra time to do stuff with Troy. I am not quite sure exactly what the agenda will be other than us going somewhere to watch football games on Sunday. Regardless it will be a good time I’m sure.

The wheels keep falling off the Eagles. Now Jalen Hurts is out with a blood clot so the already slim odds of victory over the Panthers has gotten even thinner.
